Here are the clues to another Roosevelt Island letterbox. Squirrel
Teddy Roosevelt letterbox clue
Roosevelt Island, Potomac River
Washington, D.C.
August 19, 2000
Find Theodore Roosevelt and his words on Nature: "There is delight in the
hardy life of the open, there are no words that can tell the Hidden Sprit of
the Wilderness, that can reveal its mystery, its melancholy and its charm."
"The nation behaves well if it treats the Natural Resources as assets which
it must turn over to the next generation increased and not impaired in
value."
Take the path behind TR and to the left to where the Forest Returns and the
fountain. Follow the narrow path out to the water and proceed along that
trail. At the Causeway sign take the trail to the left and follow the main
trail along the shore. Where several trails converge notice a large rock in
the trail. Opposite that rock too the left in the brush is a larger rock and
some grape vines. Look behind that large rock beneath the grapevine and under
some rocks. There you will be rewarded with a Roosevelt Island stamp to add
to your collection. This is well traveled so please be discrete.
